Online applications are invited from young, bright and highly motivated individuals to work for Kodaikanal Astronomy Museum at Kodaikanal Solar Observatory, Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Kodaikanal (Tamil Nadu) for the following position:
1. Name of the position: Museum Trainee
2. No. of position: Two
3. Essential Qualification: M.Sc in Physics / Mathematics with a recommended minimum of 55% marks (or equivalent grade) from a recognized University/ Institution.
4. Remuneration: Rs. 20,000/- per month (inclusive of all)
5. Place of work: Kodaikanal (Tamil Nadu)
6. Scope of work: Scope of work for museum trainees includes Demonstration/ lecture in and outside the museum, taking the visitors on tour around the museum design and document mini projects for students
7. Desirable: Candidates with experience in Astronomy Museum, Public relations and other programmes.

Terms and conditions:
1. The Trainee program is not a regular employment and does not entitle any privileges or benefits of regular employment. It is only a temporary study programme for imparting training.
2. The tenure of traineeship is initially for a period of two years and extendable for one more year subject to satisfactory performance of the candidate and requirement of the Institute.
3. Age relaxation is permissible to SC/ST/OBC candidates and also physically handicapped candidates as notified by the Govt. of India from time to time.
4. The date for determining the upper age limit, qualifications and experience shall be the closing date prescribed for receipt of completed application as indicated above.
5. Where the number of applications received in response to the advertisement is large and it will not be convenient or possible for the Institute to interview all those candidates, the Institute has the right to limit the candidates to be called for interview on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement.
6. Institute has right to conduct written test to shortlist candidates for interview.
7. Out-station candidates who are called for personal interview will be reimbursed to and fro train/bus fare limited to second sleeper class railway fare by the shortest route from the destination mentioned in the interview letter on production of original tickets.
8. The Institute reserves the right to cancel the entire recruitment process at any time without assigning any reasons whatsoever.
9. No correspondence will be entertained with the candidates not selected for interview / appointment. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
10. Misrepresentation or falsification of facts detected at any stage of the selection process or instances of misconduct/misbehavior at any stage during selection process shall result in cancellation of candidature without any notice and no correspondence in this regard shall be entertained.
