Qualification Details:
Subject: Appointment to the two posts of whole-time Member of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

3. Terms of Appointment: The tenure of a whole-time Member is for a term not exceeding three years or till the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier. As per Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance 0M No. 16-1/2017 /E-IIIA dated 10th January, 2018, a whole-time Member of TRAI, shall be entitled to a pay package of Rs. (Rupees Four Lakh only) (without house and car) per month. An employee of the Government on his/her selection as whole-time Member, TRAI shall have to retire from service before joining TRAL
4. Oualifications: The qualifications for appointment to the post as derived from Section 4 of the TRAI Act, are as follows: "A person having special knowledge of, and professional experience in telecommunication, industry, finance, accountancy, law, management or Consumer affairs. PROVIDED that such a person who is, or has been, in the service of Government shall not be appointed as a member unless such person has held the post of Secretary, or Additional Secretary, or the post of Additional Secretary and Secretary to the Government of India or any equivalent post in the Central Government or the State Government for a period Of not less than three years."

Procedure for Selection: A Search-cum-SeIection Committee (SCSC) will make recommendations for selection to the posts.
