Qualification Details:
Applications on the prescribed form (to be downloaded from the university's website i.e. https://www.jmi.ac.in) are invited for the contractual posts of Assistant Professor in the Centre for Distance and Open Learning, Jamia Millia Islamia on the monthly remuneration i.e. Basic + DA (as on 01.04.2020) initially for a period of six months, extendable up to one year based on performance:-
1. Position: Assistant Professor (English, Hindi, Human Resource Management, History, Sociology, Political Science, Public Administration, Education, Commerce, Management)
2. No of Posts: 14
3. Eligibility (A or B)
i) A Master's degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
ii) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET or who are or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to
time as the case may be exempted from NET/SLET/SET:- Provided, the candidates registered for the Ph.D. programme prior to July II, 2009 shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances/Bye-Iaws/Regulations of the Institution awarding the degree and such Ph.D. candidates shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions, subject to the fulfilment of the following conditions,
iii)The Ph.D. degree of the candidate has been awarded in a regular mode; The Ph.D. thesis has been evaluated by at least two external examiners; An open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate has been conducted; The Candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work, out of which at least one is in a refereed journal; The candidate has presented at least two papers based on his/her Ph.D work in conferences/seminars sponsored/funded/ supported by the UGC/ICSSR/CSIR or any similar agency. The fulfilment of these conditions is to be certified by the Registrar or the Dean (Academic
Affairs) of the University concerned.
4. Assistant Professor in Education, Eligibility (A or B)
a. Postgraduate degree in Science / Humanities / Arts with minimum 55% marks. Postgraduate degree in Education (M.Ed./M.A. Education) with minimum 55% marks.
b. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similartest accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET or who are or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil. [Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time as the case may be exempted from NET/SLET/SET:
c. Provided, the candidates registered for the Ph.D. programme prior to July II, 2009 shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances/Bye- laws/Regulations of the Institution awarding the degree and such Ph.D. candidates shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and of Assistant Professor equivalent positions in appointment or Universities/Colleges/Institutions, subject to the fulfilment of the following conditions: The Ph.D. degree of the candidate has been awarded in a regular mode; The Ph.D. thesis has been evaluated by at least two external examiners; An open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate has been conducted
General Instructions:
1. The period of active service spent on pursuing Research Degree i.e. for acquiring Ph.D. degree simultaneously without taking any kind of leave may be counted as teaching experience for the purpose of direct recruitment/promotion to the post of Associate Professor and above.
2. Applicants for the post of Associate Professor and Professor should fill-up the Academic/Research Score Proforma (wherever applicable) as prescribed in the UGCRegulation- 2018 in Appendix II, Table-2 and send along with the application form. Each of the Academic/ Research score card shall be supported by the documentary evidence, without which, no claim on account of Academic/ Research score would be entertained. Applicants for the post of Assistant Professor are required to submit the Academic/Research Score Proforma, which can be downloaded from Jamia's website http://jmi.ac.in. Applications without Academic/Research Score Proforma shall not be considered.
3. Selection against temporary post/vacancy shall not confer on the appointee any right of permanent appointment/ regularization.
4. The prescribed qualifications and experience are minimum and the mere fact that a candidate possesses the same will not entitle him/her for being called for interview. The University reserves the right to restrict the candidates to be called for interview to areasonable number on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed or by any other condition that it may deem fit. The University may constitute a Screening Committee to scrutinize the applications and short-listing the candidates. Call letters for interview will be sent only to the short-listed candidates and no correspondence will be made with applicants who are not short-listed.
5. Candidates must enclose the attested copies of degrees, diplomas, mark-sheets, etc. giving reference of experience/ published work with application form. Relaxation, if any, shall be as per the UGC guidelines and other regulatory bodies.
